Program Goal and Objectives
Countryside Canada will recognize and thank farmers and ranchers
for their exemplary private land stewardship initiatives. Canadian
farmers and ranchers recognized for their outstanding efforts will
receive a Countryside Canada award. These examples of exemplary stewardship
initiatives will also be used to promote better conservation practices
throughout the agricultural community. What are some examples
of stewardship initiatives that could be recognized?
Stewardship initiatives that may be recognized under Countryside
Canada could include enhancing habitat for a specific wildlife species,
or providing demonstration sites for agricultural management techniques
that are wildlife-friendly.
Program Phases

Establishment of a benchmark of the current level of knowledge
and the conservation practices carried out by landowners in the
agricultural sector

Recognition of exemplary private land stewardship practices

Communication and promotion of these best practices
- Evaluation, in three years, to
determine the success of Countryside Canada.
