| The USAE program rewards
innovative and exemplary urban stewardship in Ontario. Recipients'
efforts will be promoted nationally to educate Canadians about
the importance of preserving urban greenspace and to encourage
conservation and naturalization in urban areas.
The awards are being offered in two categories.

Living with Wildlife Award
The Living with Wildlife
Award, sponsored by Wildlife Habitat Canada and the Regional Municipality
of York, recognize exemplary leadership in urban wildlife habitat
stewardship. You can nominate individuals, groups or projects that
have enhanced habitat for the benefit of wildlife and people.
Or the
Hands for Nature Award
The Hands for Nature Award
will celebrate the spirit of volunteerism in Ontario's urban greening
movement, recognizing excellence in the enhancement and restoration
of urban greenspace.
In recognition
of the capacity building needs of community-based greening groups
in Ontario, Hands for Nature Award recipients will each receive a
grant of $1,000, which must be used to help them strengthen the volunteerism
component of their their valuable work of greening Ontario's towns
and cities. This year, up to 10 grants are available to be awarded
to eligible groups or individuals.
