Dylan and Colleen Biggs produce organic beef on their TK Ranch in east-central Alberta. In doing so, they share the fundamental belief that to be truly organic, a ranch or farm must operate sustainably and provide protection for wildlife and habitat.
The Biggs’ 8,000-acre ranch is part of the Northern Fescue Grasslands — an area of native prairie recognized as an endangered ecosystem by the World Wildlife Fund. Only about five percent of Alberta’s native prairie grasslands remain, and these sensitive areas require special care to support sustainable agriculture. Through their innovation, determination and a deep commitment to stewardship, Dylan and Colleen Biggs have established themselves as leaders in operating a successful ranching enterprise while caring for this fragile ecosystem.
