The MacKay Family

Generations of MacKays have been restoring the forest on their lands with an eye to the future. None of the MacKay land is harvested without a plan for regeneration. Elmer MacKay’s sons, Peter and Andrew, assist their father in managing the family woodlands. Since 1997, The Honourable Peter MacKay has been the MP for the riding of Pictou-Antigonish- Guysborough (now Central Nova), is currently the Minister of Defense and is active in other portfolios. When time allows, he engages in conservation and forest management activities with his father and brother. Both Peter and Andrew enjoy working hands-on in the woods, as their grandfather and great-grandfather had years ago.
